Introducing Our Cybersecurity Insights Series

Student Voices, Real Research, Real Schools
At CyberSafeSchools, protecting and defending our educators is not just our mission, it is the lens through which we develop everything we do. That includes the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. We are pleased to introduce our Cybersecurity Insights Series: a collection of articles researched and written by students completing virtual work experience with CyberSafeSchools. Each piece explores a real cybersecurity topic relevant to UK schools, from safeguarding obligations and data protection to practical threat mitigation and NCSC guidance. Every article is reviewed before publication. The content you find in this series meets our standards for accuracy and relevance, because the topics matter too much to get wrong.
Our four current campaigns
Our student contributors are currently working across four campaigns, each targeting a different audience:
- Cybersecurity is Safeguarding — guidance for DSLs and governors on the intersection of cyber threats and safeguarding responsibilities
- No Experts Needed — practical, jargon-free resources for school leaders who do not have a technical background
- Experience Cyber, Make Impact — insights from students exploring cybersecurity as a career and work experience pathway
- Real Work, Real Skills — resources for careers advisors and leads on how to integrate cybersecurity into careers guidance
Browse the Insights section to explore the first published articles, and subscribe below to receive new content directly.
Protecting and defending our educators — together.
Why student-produced content?
We believe that genuine work experience changes the trajectory of careers. When a student researches phishing trends affecting secondary schools and writes a 600-word accessible guide for a headteacher, they are not doing a school project. They are doing the job.
The articles published here are the output of that process. For school leaders, DSLs, IT professionals, and governors, this series offers something straightforward: free, readable, practically useful cybersecurity guidance, updated regularly by a team motivated to make an impact.
The team is just getting started. Watch this space.
